Miloš and Anđela choose their own path

Positive atmosphere that encourages friendship, working in a team that cooperates, supports, teaches and motivates each other, that is, as our colleagues say, the business philosophy of NIS. For that very reason, young men and women, who work at the positions of cashiers and filling station attendants at NIS Petrol and Gazprom refuelling stations, decide to stay with the company

We have tried to show how does it look like to be part of NIS and what is the thing that means the most to our colleagues in their daily work. Miloš Janković, who works as a filling station attendant, and Anđela Avramović, who works as a cashier, shared their impressions with us.

Miloš i Anđela – biraju svoj put

Miloš has been with the company since 2019 and emphasises that the team is one of the reasons why he still works at the NIS Petrol filling station today.

There are more of us younger in the team, but we also have older colleagues who pass on their knowledge, give us guidance and help whenever needed. No day or night is the same. The work is exciting, and at our filling station, depending on the needs of the job, I work either as a cashier or as a filling station attendant.

Miloš says

Thanks to good organisation and the right team, shift work is divided in such a way that colleagues have time for other obligations, family and friends. When employees can manage their time well, they bring their satisfaction to work and leave satisfied at the end of their shift.

What is important to me is to work in a stable company, because I feel safe there. In addition, my company has something that many others do not. Many signs of attention and understanding, which make NIS’s employees feel respected. Let us say, I love sports, especially football. That is why I look forward to the sports games that the company organises every year, as well as events and trips... I do not have my own family yet, but my colleagues who have become parents have received financial support from the company for each new member.

Anđela says

In addition to free sports and recreational activities and retreats in spas and mountain centres in Serbia, we also give our colleagues who are parents New Year packaged gifts (vouchers) for children and also other benefits for all employees.

At our filling station, the job is not only refueling. Miloš underlines good earnings and the opportunity for advancement. As new colleagues join us in the summer season, the work becomes even more dynamic with diverse encounters with foreigners and locals. Working in this position, Miloš also met famous people whom he admires. He underlined with particular excitement, friendly contact with our football legend Igor Duljaj, who often visits the station.

In addition to the fact that it requires responsibility, this job is also fun. Everyone goes through five days of training, and one working day consists of good moments filled with jokes, as well as challenges that will not be forgotten.

More than once I have found myself at work when there was a traffic accident on the highway, so we are the first to come to the rescue. Anyone who has never worked at a filling station probably has no idea how lively and active a job it is, where you hardly even notice that the working hours are over.

Miloš is quoted as saying

Like Miloš, Anđela testifies that responsibility is very important in NIS, as well as the companionship.

When you work at NIS, you know that you are in a big company and that you are responsible for the things are entrusted to you, but that also means that there is fellowship, talks, laughter and good energy. It is all part of this job and that is what makes it beautiful. I always look forward to coming a little early in the morning, because I will have a coffee with my colleagues first. More experienced colleagues are always happy to assist, instruct and teach us new skills. I like that there is a proper order in everything here.

Anđela is quoted as saying

At the filling station in Novo Mirijevo, Anđela Avramović works at the position of a cashier. At the age of 19, after graduating from High School of Chemistry, she found her first job with us.

I work at the cash register and do everything related to the receipt of goods, sales, inventory, and honestly I look forward to every situation when I can help fellow bartenders outside. Actually, before we started working at the station, we went through training which was really good. Everything was explained to us in one place - a mini version of the pump was made in a special room, so we acted as buyers and sellers to each other, going through various situations. After that training, we are trained for both positions and can jump in where we are most needed.

Anđela states

The training prepared them for everything – working at the cash register, dispensing the fuel, and supporting each other. The system of shifts in which you work 15 days and 15 days off, allows you to adapt to private obligations.

As Anđela tells us, the opportunities for training and advancement were presented, from the very beginning in the NIS Company, as well as bonuses, paid overtime and various benefits such as sports games, gifts for March 8 and New Year’s celebrations.

At the filling station, Angela does not forget the power of kind words. Young and cheerful, she tries to bring joy and smiles to the everyday life of consumers. She enjoys the diversity of fates and stories, which makes her job extremely interesting.

– Working with people, touching so many different destinies, so many different stories, is exactly what is most interesting in this job.

Angela has chosen her path and plans to stay, inspiring others to apply for the job, because NIS supports all generations:

I would advise young people, my peers, but also the older ones to apply for the job, to try and thus see if they like working at a filling station. I believe they will do it, because NIS is a company that understands all generations and supports them in various ways.
